NATURALIZATION (U.S. CITIZENSHIP) APPLICATIONS

Immigrants become citizens through naturalization. If you are 18 years or older, you shall use the Application for Naturalization – Form N-400. If you are under 18 years old, you shall use Form N-600 or Form N-600K.

You need to provide the following supporting documents along with Form N-400:

  1. Photocopy of both sides of your Green card;
  2. Two color photographs with your name and “A” number written lightly in pencil on the back of each photo;
  3. Check or money order for the application fee and the fingerprinting fee;
  4. Form G-28, if you hired an attorney.

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, you also need to provide the following documents:

  1. Birth certificate, naturalization certificate, certificate of citizenship, US passport etc. of your spouse which shows that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years;
  2. Marriage certificate of you and your spouse;
  3. Divorce judgment, divorce certificate, death certificate etc., if any, showing all prior marriage of you and your spouse have been ended;
  4. Evidence showing the spousal relationship between you and your spouse such as tax returns, joint accounts, insurance, leases, mortgages, birth certificate of the children of the marriage, etc.
