B-2 VISA

 

While B-1 Visa is for alien visitor for business in U.S., B-2 Visa is for foreign visitor to come to the United States for pleasure including tourism, amusement, visits to family or friends, medical treatment and other social activities. It is designed for tourists to come to the United States to tour and see the U.S. It may be issued to spouses, children and parents of B-1 Visa holders. The B-2 Visa can also be used by foreign students to come to U.S. prior to enrollment. A B-2 visa holder can adjust his status after being enrolled.

Procedures

The procedure to apply for a B-2 Visa is similar to the procedure to apply for a B-1 Visa.

Supporting Documents:

The following supporting documents should be provided:

Evidence showing the purpose of the trip. It could be a letter from the company describing the purpose and length of the trip, or a letter from your family members, relatives or friends showing their invitation for visit.
If the applicant is traveling to the U.S. for medical purposes, he or she should have a statement from a doctor or medical institution about the treatment.
The plan of your tour such as a tour itinerary.
Evidence showing your intention to leave the U.S. after a temporary visit. Example includes a return air ticket.
Evidence showing how and who covers the cost of your visit to U.S. For example, an affidavit of support from the relatives or friends; the bank statements etc.
Proof of the relationship with the person or an entity which invites or sponsors the applicant to visit to the United States.
